An instance is a copy of a symbol located on the Stage or nested inside another symbol. 2 You can import an asset file to the library, which adds the asset only to the Library panel. You can also import an asset file to the Stage, which places the asset on the Stage and automatically adds the asset to the Library panel. 3 When you import layers in an Illustrator file as layers, Flash recognizes the layers in the Illustrator document and adds them as separate layers in the Timeline.
