the other one will change automatically. Duplicating an Animated Symbol You edited the planet symbol to include animation that causes the planet to move and to change size as the movie progresses. You'll create additional instances of the planet symbol, and then modify each instance to create planets of different sizes. 1. Click Scene 1 in the Edit bar above the Stage to return to the main Timeline. 2. Select the planet on the pasteboard. 3. Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS), and drag the instance to another area of the Stage to copy it. 4. Repeat step 3 twice, creating two more instances of the symbol. 5. You can animate each nested symbol separately, to create complex animations. In this project, you'll animate the alien's arms and eyes in nested symbols, and then animate the entire body, as well. To edit a symbol, double-click it on the Stage or in the Library panel. If you want to edit a nested symbol on the Stage, you must first edit the symbol that contains it, and then double-click the nested symbol. Adding Layers to a Symbol's Timeline You'll edit the body symbol, nested in the alien symbol, to add layers for the blinking eyes. 1. Select the Alien layer, and then select the alien_mc instance on the pasteboard. Note The symbol is named alien, but the instance on the Stage is named alien_mc. You can give each instance of a symbol a unique name, which is essential if you use ActionScript to control the instance. 2.
