on frame 1 of the Inner Eye layer, and choose Edit > Paste In Place. 10. Rename Layer 1 Outer Eye. 11. Move the Outer Eye layer above the Inner Eye layer in the Timeline. 12. Select the Inner Eye layer, and then select the inner eye on the Stage. 13. Select the Stroke Color icon in the options area of the Tools panel, and enter color #619AD2 to match the color of the alien's head. Creating the Mask You'll add the mask layer, and then draw two versions of the mask. 1. Select the Inner Eye layer, and then click the Insert Layer icon. 2. Name the new layer Mask. 3. Select the Inner Eye layer, and then select the shape on it. 4. Choose Edit > Copy. 5. Select frame 1 on the Mask layer, and choose Edit > Paste In Place. 6. Change the fill color on the Mask layer to bright green, and then click outside the eye to deselect it. Note You can fill a mask with any color. Green is a good choice for this mask because it shows up well against the background elements. 7. Select frame 3 in the Outer Eye layer, and then press Shift and select frame 3 in the Inner Eye layer to select frame 3 in all three layers in the Timeline. 8. Press F5 to extend all three layers to frame 3. 9. Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) as you drag the first frame of the Mask layer to frame 3 to duplicate the keyframe. [View full size image] 10. Select frame 3 on the Mask layer, and press Alt or Option as you drag it backwards one frame to duplicate the keyframe. Frames 1, 2, and 3 on the Mask layer should all have black dots, indicating keyframes. 11. Lock the Inner Eye and Outer Eye layers. 12. Click outside the mask to deselect it. 13. Select the Lasso tool ( ), and then select the Polygon Mode icon ( ) in the options area of the Tools panel. In Polygon Mode, the Lasso tool draws straight lines. 14. With the Lasso tool, select a thin diagonal section across the eye, at a slight slant. Click the Lasso tool at each corner of the polygon to change direction as you draw.
