6. Select any frame between frames 145 and 148, and select Motion from the Tween menu in the Property inspector. 7. Select


frame 145 in the Title: T layer, and then select the letter T on the Stage. 8. In the Property inspector, select Alpha from the Color menu, and enter 25 for the percentage.   Animating Motion on a Path To animate an object along a path, first create a motion guide; Flash creates a separate layer for the guide. Then, draw the guide on the Stage. Finally, align the object with the guide. You'll use a motion guide to loop a spaceship across the Stage so that it appears to produce the puff of smoke that you animated to morph into the O. Creating a Motion Guide You can use a motion guide to draw just about any path for an object to follow on the Stage. You'll draw a motion guide that loops around once, flies through the O, and then continues off the Stage. 1. Select the Spaceship layer, and then select the spaceship on the pasteboard. 2. Choose Edit > Cut. 3. Select frame 92 of the Spaceship layer, and press F7 to insert a blank keyframe. Then, choose Edit > Paste In Place. 4. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) the Spaceship layer, and choose Add Motion Guide. Flash adds a Guide: Spaceship layer above the Spaceship layer. 5. Select frame 92 on the Guide: Spaceship layer, and press F7 to insert a blank keyframe. [View full size image] 6. Select the Pencil tool ( ), and specify a blac k stroke. Select the Smooth curve option in the options area in the Tools panel. ( ). 7. With the Pencil tool, draw a path across the Stage that loops at least once and flies through the middle of the O in the word Out. Your path should look similar to the one in the following image. Aligning an Object with a Motion Guide Once you've drawn the motion guide, you need to create motion tweens, and position the object at the beginning and the end of the motion guide. 1. Select frame 140 of the Spaceship layer, and press F6 to insert a keyframe. 2. Select any frame between frames 92 and 140, and select Motion from the Tween menu in the Property inspector. 3. In the Property inspector, select Orient To Path, Sync, and Snap. [View full size image] 4. Select frame 140 on the Spaceship layer, and then use the Selection tool to select the spaceship on the pasteboard. Place the spaceship at the end of the path so that it is off the Stage. Note The transformation point of an object, displayed as a white circle, snaps to the motion path.
